'Chhona Chhara' is the chronicle of the lives of ‘nowhere’ people. They are there and not there.

Some have fathers, but no mothers. Some have mothers, but no fathers. And some have neither.

And then, some have both, who are absent from their lives. They don’t have homes. They are not listed on electoral rolls. They don’t have ration cards. They have no past, nor a future. All they have is their daily struggles, endless toil.

They just have the frightening ‘here and now’ staring them in their faces. Born by the railway tracks, they nervously clutch at corners to stay alive. And it is here that they shall die unknown to the world, like a stray dog. As if they lived only to perish one day.

Their only occupation is to somehow stay alive. Some drive rickshaws, some run errands, some collect scrap, some wash glasses at a hooch shop, and some scale fishes at the fish market. They are uprooted, penniless, vulnerable humans living near the station. It is on this heartless soil that delicate saplings spring sometimes. Even such people are not bereft of hopes, dreams, and love. And with love, comes envy, and with envy, the reason to die or the reason to kill.
